The computers we will be using in this course are the CAEDM PC's in the computer labs found in rooms 234, and 423/425 of this building (or other PC's connected to the CAEDM network). ArcView (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcTools) may be run on any of the CAEDM pc's (under ESRI in the CE section of the Start menu). We are fortunate to have the computer classroom in room 234 CB now for our use. I plan on lecturing for about half of the two hours each class period and allowing you to work on your homework the other half. Please arrive on time and connect to the internet so that we may begin class on schedule and without interruptions. Plan on staying for the duration of the class. The files you will need for this course will come from a variety of sources and each assignment will include directions on how to copy/download them. GIS data often requires a lot of disk space and this class is no exception. You will have to carefully manage your diskspace, but if you are having problems come and see me. You need to be familiar with how to use e-mail software so that we can communicate. I also expect you to know something about the internet. We will spend a brief amount of time discussing how to work around the internet. Your homework assignments will have to be published in HTML format. |
