CEEn 531 - Water Resources Engineering Dr. Nelson
Homework Assignment 4After running the respective tutorial, read the following set of questions and write half a page paragraph about what you have learned from this lesson. At this point, you should be able to answer these questions or at least have them help you in writing your paragraph. Post this paragraph, along with a screen capture, or two, developed from the results of the tutorial, to your CE531 homework page, then email the TA (include the URL to your homework page). Always try to make your assignment page look as nice and professional as possible.
Watershed Delineation with Feature Objects What are the advantages of using a feature-object based model?
What are possible topological errors that can happen when importing data from CAD/GIS?
What are the possible hydraulic structures could exist at a basin outlet?
One of the advantages of using feature objects to delineate watersheds is that no elevation data is needed. How is this correct and when would it be essential to have elevation data?
At least one stream arc must exist within each basin for the basin to exist in the tree. Why this is so? In other words, why can’t we represent the basin as an area of land that doesn’t have a stream in it?
Extra Questions: Here are some extra questions for you to think about. How can a watershed be delineated in WMS? In WMS, what must be there for watershed delineation to be complete?
WMS uses two basic methods to create watershed from feature objects. What are those? And when can we use each one of them?
